Good Chron writeup on Vallejo prostitution

The Kevin Fagan-Brant Ward team published another job of social spelunking today -- a pretty good one. It's a much-promoted feature in the SF Chronicle on a prostitution boom in the bankrupt, heavily foreclosed suburb of Vallejo. (The feature is in the paid editions only for now; it should become public here on Tuesday.)

I've been annoyed at Kevin Fagan in the past (though not always) for selecting homeless people to interview who come across as pathetic and dependent, when many are not. He did a lot better this time, interviewing prostitutes, neighborhood-watch activists and cops with equal sympathy, and showing respect for women who view prostitution as a job.
