Some European perspectives on squatting

I missed this last month in the UK Guardian: a series of memoir/vignettes from readers who are or were involved in squatting in different European countries. Circumstances vary from a well-known artists' group in Paris and a legal "anti-squat contract" in a vacant Netherlands office building to the illicit work of a UK housing activist who helps homeless people to open squats, saying "We aim to provide a breather for people who have slipped between the cracks of the system." All of them seem to benefit from gentler laws on squatters' rights than in the United States.
