HUD Sec'y for a renters' credit?

Nice to see this report that Sec'y Donovan of HUD has mentioned possibly supporting a renters' tax credit.

Or rather, well, I guess every bit of justice counts -- but I wonder, would it do as much practical economic good for people as it would for their opinion of the government? It would be a smart propaganda move -- that one little tax credit would make a big swath of the population less irritated at that mystifying wilderness in the middle of the 1040 where only landowners and depletion allowancers (or whatever) dare to tread.

Or is that just me being sour? Is it a good idea after all?
