Bedbug class action allowed in Des Moines

Wow. Findlaw notes a Des Moines Register report that a local judge has allowed tenants to go forward with a class action suit about bedbugs. It sounds like the tenants were under-respected people in subsidized buildings, so they had a terrible time. I hope they collect good chunks of money from their landlord, which seems to be a large religious "charity".

I'm glad to see that when a treatment finally worked, it was good old 120-degree heat, not poisons. Now, this is maybe a little paranoid, but I could suspect some landlords of not minding that bedbug treatment with poisons is unpleasant, because it serves as a kind of penalty against tenants for requesting it.
