An Ikea housing complex: what could go wrong?

Been discovering an LA-based Web site called FourStory. Reportage and fiction on themes that include "affordable housing and smart urban living."

Among much else, there's this quietly shudder-making report of an Ikea village planned near the London Olympics complex. That is, the purveyors of cheap generic living-room furniture are "looking to bring their thing for order and symmetry to housing" in East London.

Polite things are said about the vernacular affordability of the planned complex. Comparison is however also made to Disney's troubled "Celebration" development.

Anyway, can't wait 'til China MiƩville hears about this one.
