Carts at the courthouse
At the criminal courthouse s'morning, an elderly woman had brought a big folding wheeled cart full of possessions inside. Seemed to be trying to get in to Room 101, which is the main clerks' office. She was talking to a deputy -- I'd guess trying to either get the cart stored or figure out how to bring it through the airport-style security system with its metal detectors and its X-ray machines for personal property. I had other stuff to do and didn't get into the conversation but have to wonder, what if the deputy said "no go" and she missed setting a citation for hearing and it went to warrant? Surely carts and other possessions are an access to justice issue? What about providing lockers with time limits?
